En los últimos tiempos se ha detectado un interés creciente en la inclusión de psicólogos clínicos (PC) en el ámbito de la atención primaria (AP), puesto que una parte significativa de las consultas de este nivel están relacionadas con problemas de salud mental, aumentando la presión asistencial de los médicos y ocasionando un elevado coste económico. La presencia del PC en AP mejoraría la accesibilidad de este servicio, revirtiendo en una mejor calidad asistencial. Background and aim: In June 2017, University and Health Ministries jointly enacted a decree imple-menting a new accreditation system for the Italian post-graduate medical schools (residency programs). We report the innovations introduced through the reform. Methods: Universities were called to submit post-gradu-ate medical school projects to the National Observatory on medical residency programs, the inter-institutional committee responsible for the entire accreditation process, through an interactive web platform. Clinical embryologists are highly trained laboratory professionals with multiple roles, including laboratory, clinical, biobanking and quality system management. In most European countries, clinical embryologists are trained to work in Medically Assisted Reproduction (MAR) centres without a specifically dedicated educational path. The criteria required for employment vary according to the educational structure and the public or private nature of the centre. We have herein described the educational profile required by Italian clinical embryologists to work in MAR centres of the National Health System (NHS).
